THE judges are in Darlington today to see the floral displays vying for the Northumbria in Bloom title.
The town is hoping to win the title this year and go on to be successful in the Britain in Bloom small city category.
The pair of judges will be visiting decorated sites around the town, including the new fountain on the Stockton Road roundabout and the Locomotion No 1 feature on High Row, which has been re-planted for the competition.
Darlington's Britain in Bloom organiser, Michelle Parkes, said: "The town is ready and everyone is geared up for it."
The Northern Echo is backing the town's bid for success in Britain in Bloom, to be judged in August.
More than 10,000 bedding plants and 1,000 hanging baskets have been displayed around the town to impress today's judges.
As part of the Britain in Bloom bid, organisers are hoping schools, pubs and businesses will help to make the town look pretty.
Darlington Borough Council will present the school with the best display with a trophy and a team of landscapers for a chosen area of land.
There will also be prizes for the best decorated pub, residential property, shop front and best voluntary project.
Anyone wishing to get involved in the effort can print off and fill in this form. National judges will be in the town on August 17 to see what Darlington has to offer.
