NEW training opportunities are to become available for residents looking for work.
A New Opportunities Centre will be unveiled at Hartlepool College of Further Education this week.
The facility in Lynn Street, Hartlepool, will provide advice and guidance to anyone wanting to enter training in order to get a job.
An open day will be held at the centre will on Wednesday to show people what training courses are on offer, and to allow them to meet representatives from the college and employment service.
New Opportunities is the latest initiative to support the Government's Welfare to Work programme, which will replace the pilot New Deal 25 scheme.
Courses range from a two-week session to longer occupational training programmes.
All the courses are accredited with governing bodies and many offer IT provision and help with job searches.
Paul Marshall, operations manager for the centre, said: "We are working in partnership with other organisations to ensure we match the employment needs of both our clients and employers."
