VISITORS to a North-East city will be able to enjoy a taste of the tropics.
Two pineapple sculptures, commissioned for Sunderland's entry to the Britain in Bloom competition last year, were placed on the city's Board Inn roundabout yesterday.
The sculptures recently formed the centrepiece at the NEC World Live Show, in Birmingham, where Sunderland City gardeners were awarded a silver medal - the highest award in the floral decoration category.
The pineapple is regarded as a sign of welcome and prosperity
