A TOWN honoured its top gardeners last night for putting on a good show.
Winners of this year's Bishop Auckland in Bloom competition were announced at a ceremony arranged by the Civic Society at the town hall.
Mr and Mrs Stamp, from Tindale Crescent, took the overall trophy and first prize in the front garden class.
Other winners were: Allotments, 1 Mr and Mrs G Matthews, 2 Mrs P Steel, 3 Mr RJ Caile; front gardens, 2 Windsor Court residents, 3 Mrs J Pincher; back garden, 1 Mrs S Hutchinson, 2 Mr PA Kerry, 3 Mrs D Chapman; Yard: Mr R Hankey, 2 Mr and Mrs Santon, 3 Mr N Potter; business and licensed premises, 1 Chittocks, Newgate Street, 2 Auckland Medical Group, Cockton Hill Road, 3 Bishop Auckland Town Hall.
Entries were judged by Ian Webster, from Houghall College, Durham. Wear Valley District Council leader Olive Brown presented the awards.
