A COUPLE devastated by the loss of their baby daughter just a year ago were yesterday celebrating the birth of twin girls.

Ian Guilbert and Kelly Moore were distraught at the sudden death of their apparently healthy baby Anna Louise just two hours after she was born.

She had appeared healthy throughout Kelly's pregnancy and her sudden death left the couple in despair.

Anna Louise was born weighing 9lbs 8oz but developed breathing difficulties soon after her birth. After two grief-stricken months Kelly discovered she was pregnant again and a scan at 12 weeks revealed she was carrying twins.

The following months were anxious ones as they prayed that the babies would be born healthy.

But 6lb 11oz Megan and 7lb 7oz Lauren were both fit and well when they arrived at Sunderland Royal Hospital.

Kelly, 21, of Washington, Tyne and Wear, said: "It is wonderful to have two little girls because we wanted a family so desperately.

"But we will never forget Anna Louise, whatever happens.

"It was still a massive relief when I heard two cries after they were born by Caesarian sect-ion."

Factory worker Ian, 21, said: "We are just so happy that they are both healthy and thriving."
