THE future of a historic annual North-East market town event has been saved at a crisis meeting.
The century-old Barnard Castle Meet was on the verge of folding because of a lack of volunteer committee members.
But a last ditch meeting to safeguard the event brought enough public support for a committee to be formed and organisers are promising a bumper Meet next year.
