Furious passengers today blasted rail bosses after their train arrived at its destination more than four hours late.
The train, which left London's Kings Cross station at 8pm last night bound for Newcastle, finally arrived at 3.45am today.
Those travelling to Leeds were ordered off the packed train at Doncaster at 2.30am to catch a replacement bus service.
One passenger waiting on Doncaster platform said: "It's just outrageous. People on the train were getting very annoyed."
Rail officials said the delays were a knock-on effect from the problems yesterday when fallen overhead lines blocked the East Coast mainline.
A GNER train from Kings Cross to Edinburgh was damaged when cables came down near Peterborough at 4pm, blocking other services.
