ANOTHER parish council has joined the row over Yorkshire Water's plan to dump sewage into the River Ure at Masham, near Ripon.
Azerley Parish Council has decided to try and halt the move by objecting to an application from Yorkshire Water to the Environment Agency.
Parish council chairman Reg Merrin, whose area covers the villages of Mickley, Galphay, Winksley and the hamlet of Azerley, said: "We are writing a strongly-worded letter opposing this move."
He said allowing sewage to enter the river at Masham would impact on Mickley where the trout river was well fished.
Earlier, Masham Parish Council also voted to object to the application. Masham Angling Club along with the Salmon and Trout Association have also raised objections.
Yorkshire Water says it is seeking consent only at times of emergencies such as mechanical or electrical failure.
Meanwhile, officials of Yorkshire Water are expected to explain reasons for the move to Masham Parish Council, on August 13.
