The Tow Law New Market derby produced a scintillating finish for the B team who took the three doubles to pull off a shock odd point victory over their A team.
The teams shared the trebles and the A team went ahead with singles wins from Alan Brown, Darren Yeoman, Bob Gray and John Parkin with Shaun McGrath and Steven Umpelby replying for the B team, who recovered from their two points deficit with their three doubles points.
Leading individual scorers: D Metcalfe a maximum, two 140s (Stag's Head), C Boughey a maximum, 140, CA Boughey three 140s, M Henry 140 (all Cattle Mart), L Cullinan two 140s (Comedian), I Truby 140 (Royal Oak), P Moore 140 (Comedian), D Brown and C Tomlinson 140 (Hamilton Row).

CIU Doubles Championship
There were 29 pairs entered in the first stages of the competition played at two venues, Stanhope and the Prospect with two pairs qualifying for Finals Night from each place. The qualifiers from Stanhope were Paul Knighton and Kevin Wright of Crook Belle Vue and Tony Nixon and Ray Brown from Ferryhill.
The two qualifiers from the Prospect Club were Jeff Heathcoat and Dave Byrne of Crook Belle Vue and Phil Nixon and Gary Taylor of Ferryhill.
Wear Valley Ladies League
At the league's annual meeting Irene Clark was re-elected as Chairman-Secretary with Kim Pritchard as Treasurer. Kath Reynolds was elected as assistant secretary with Joan Hall appointed the Teams Representative.
The membership of the league was extended with the following teams joining: Crook King' Head, Crook Bar 56, Crook Coach and Horses, Croft Social Club, Crook Crown Hotel, Crook Golden Fleece, Crook Mill House, Oakenshaw Club, Crook Queen's Head, Crook Royal Sun, Howden Sunnydene Lodge, Crook Three Blue Bells and Crook White Swan.
l The new season will start on September 6 but secretary, Irene Clark would like to sign up another team inside the next fortnight. Any ladies darts team interested in filling the blank position should contact Irene on (01388) 765651 as soon as possible.
Crook Ladies League
Crook Queen's Head only dropped one point to the visiting Willington Commercial to move up level at the top of the table with Crook Travellers Rest, who dropped three points at Tow Law Station. Crook Coach and Horses are in third place, four points adrift of the two leaders.
