Bishop Auckland League - Witton Park Rose and Crown made their third victory of the season when they visited Bishop Auckland Cumberland Arms and won the battle of the bottom teams by three points.
The Cumberland had two singles points from Gerry Errington and one each from Ian Lowes and Stephen Moore. The Rose and Crown went ahead with two singles points from Paul Frame and Barry Thexton with Paul McConnell and Dave Hodgson adding one each. The Cumberland closed the gap when Geoff Proud and David Patterson took the doubles. However Paul Frame took both captain's points for the Rose and Crown when the beat Paddy Loughran.

Oakenshaw Club took the Championship with a comfortable home win over Hunwick Quarry Burn, while Howden Australian A just failed to force a play-off for the runners-up spot with their B team after they only dropped one point at Hunwick Club.
Steve Peacock took the only point for the Quarry Burn at Oakenshaw, who had singles wins from Mark Kitching, Jason Walton, Frankie Lythe, Dale Wilson and Tony Leighton to add to the three doubles points.
Howden Australian B had completed their programme and were nine points ahead of their A team, who faced a trip to Hunwick Club for their final match. The Aussie A needed a whitewash victory and almost succeeded but had their party spoiled when Mike Jardine of the Club beat Mick Richardson. The Aussie winners were John Allott, Stephen Ferris, Ray Newton, Jimmy Bainbridge and Ian Williams.

Crook League
Ithe top of the table clash in the Second Division between Crook Spitfire Club and the leading Crook Surtees the match finished all-square in a very tight finish. The Spitfire had singles wins from Gordon Walker, Joanne Moore, Ronnie Rinaldi, Chris Raine and Mark Callaghan to add to a doubles point with the Surtees replying to make the game six each by taking the other doubles and singles from Alan Tomlinson, Chris Bainbridge, Howrad Trotter, Ben Heslop and Dickie Allison. Gordon Walker broke the deadlock by beating the visiting Chris Bainbridge to edge one point ahead. However Alan Tomlinson pulled the Surtees level when he beat Joanne Moore in the final frame. This result leaves the Surtees three points clear of the Spitfire Club, who are 15 ahead of Crook Golden Fleece. The leading singles winner in the First Division is Gavin Witton of the Olde Horse Shoe A with 23 wins, with the race for second place shared by Jimmy Singlewood and Neil Campbell from Crook Travellers Rest B and Les Scott of the Olde Horse Shoe A with 21 wins each. David Parvin of Croft Social Club leads the Second Division with 20 wins followed by Howard Trotter of the Surtees with 18 wins and Aaron Cowen of the Golden Fleece with 17 wins.

Spennymoor Wheatsheaf pulled through to a two point win over the visiting Spennymoor Railway thanks to a point lead in the singles and extended when J. Murdoch beat Ian Spowart, the visiting captain, in the final frame.
The Wheatsheaf had singles wins from G. Brown, I. Mains and A. Mole, whilst C. White and M. Blair replied for the Railway with the two doubles points shared.

Tow Law League
Tow Law Rose and Crown pulled off their best win for a long time when they visited league challengers, Lanchester King's Head and won by three points. Only Harry Wales and Malcolm Clarke managed to take singles points for the King's Head, while the Rose and Crown winners were Derek Mowbray, Alan Ward, Lee Mowbray and Alan Spence. The visitors completed a good night by taking two of the three doubles.
This defeat for the King's Head allowed Tow Law Station to move 12 points clear at the top following their win for the loss of only one point at Tow Law Black Horse B, who had Chris Suddes as their only winner. Tow Law New Market slipped a point behind the King's Head when they surprisingly went down by the odd point at Tow Law Football Club.
