Worthington CIU Summer League - Durham City finally ended their long run without a win when they took the decider on their visit to Sherburn Village.
This means that there is no team in any league without a victory to its name. The Durham City side were never ahead as Alan Greener took the first point for Sherburn with Brian Dunn levelling. John Bower restored the home lead only to see Gary Ward square the match. In the decider Durham's, Michael Pratt beat Scott Mallaburn on the black.
Meadowfield continued their very good run and moved up to share the top spot in the Second Division after they only dropped one point to the visiting Newhouse A, who had John Maddox as their only winner. The Meadowfield points came from Malcolm Hughes, Stephen Hughes, Craig Hughes and Norman Smith.
Langley Park could have moved well clear at the top of the Second Division but they only managed one point at Crook Belle Vue and so now share the leaders position with Meadowfield. Crook had wins from Eric Lockerbie, Gordon Sample, Ken Rider and Harold Lomax, whilst the Park's lone scorer was Robert Roche.
Wheatley Hill A opened up a three points gap at the top of the First Division after they whitewashed their hosts at Spennymoor A. The Hill's points came from Jack Wright, Ronnie Peacock, Dave Walker, Dennis Clish and Alan Hall.
Second placed Old Shildon dropped the first point at home to Willington when Arthur Goldsborough won. However, the home side then took over with wins from Charlie Blake, Michael Pratt, Stephen Bennett and Billy Goggins.
Newton Aycliffe slipped eight points behind Old Shildon after they only took the first point through Stuart Neil on their visit to Fishburn A. The home side had wins from Charlie Hirst, Tommy Carter, John Carter with a 51 break and John Griffin.
Witton Gilbert moved up to share the third spot with Newton Aycliffe after the visiting Stanley Central only took one point, when Walter Cornell won. Witton's points came from Ian Kerr, Ian Renwick, John Rooney senior and John Rooney junior.
Wheatley Hill B took the first and last points from their home match against Shotton Palms when Dave Blyth and Tony Ellison won. The Palms went to victory with wins from Jimmy Evans, John Armstrong and Paul Hickman.
Only Alan Guy managed to take a point for Newhouse B at home to Brandon, who went through to win with points from Colin Goodrick, Graeme Jackson, Brian Graham and John Hall.
Third Division leaders, Spennymoor B were stretched before winning by the odd point at Leeholme B. Karl Thompson and Mark Brown put the home side ahead but Micky Anderson and Phil Wilson levelled the match. In the decider the Moors, Wayne Parry edged through to beat Stephen Bainbridge on the black. This keeps Spennymoor at the top with a four points advantage over West Auckland.
Crowtrees failed in their bid to get among the Third Division leaders when only Sonny Hann managed a win at West Auckland. The home side moved into second place with wins from Chris Kitch, Andrew Sugden, Kelvin Fletcher and Andrew Dent.
Hunwick now have to share the third spot after they went down by the odd point to the visiting Leeholme A. Tow Ward and Arnold Fleming won for Hunwick, but Leeholme went through to victory with wins from Carl Brown, Lawrence Jones and Barry Shaw.
Fishburn B moved up to share the third place with Hunwick following their win in the decider at Tow Law. Doug Watson and Tommy Williams put the Lawyers ahead but Alan Wilson and George Whitelock levelled. In the decider Keith Binks took Fishburn to victory by beating Arthur Henderson.
l A number of teams have failed to send in entry forms for the Harry Little Memorial Handicap Pairs. The entry date has been extended to handing in the sheets at the next meeting in Meadowfield at 7.30pm on Thursday, July 26.

South West Durham Association
Darlington East End have been expelled from the league after they failed to raise a team for their home match against Darlington Snooker Club B. East End had already failed to meet three of their earlier fixtures. All points from their matches played have been removed, leaving Shildon Elm Road with a two-point lead over Northgate, but with an extra match played.
In the First Division Hopetown seem to have one hand on the Championship trophy as they lead by five points with only two matches left. Darlington Snooker Club A are in second place, two points ahead of Darlington Cricket Club.
