A MAN hid in a hedge and pounced on a woman returning from work in the early hours of the morning.
The 23-year-old woman screamed as she was attacked in Delves Lane, near Consett causing her attacker to run away.
The victim, who was returning home in the early hours of the morning after working at a food outlet in Consett, was badly shaken but not physically hurt.
Her attacker was hiding in the bushes on the main road through the village, itself called Delves Lane, at the entrance to Tesco at about 2am.
The man followed her down the street to a nearby petrol station before grabbing her arm and hair on Sunday, July 8.
He was aged between 22 and 27, with acne and chubby cheeks. He was about 5ft 11in with mousy blond hair shaved at the sides. He wore dark trousers and a light shirt and possibly had a slight limp.
