PUPILS in Norton chose to take a dim view of the world on Wednesday as they donned sunglasses for the day to raise cash for a good cause.
They joined teachers and governors of Norton school to support the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association's national shades for a day campaign.
The head teacher, Mr Ian Graves, said: "This was an ideal opportunity to highlight the importance of wearing sunglasses which protect the eye from ultra-violet light."
Geraldine Peacock, chief executive if the charity, said: "Although it's fun to look 'cool', there is a serious message about protecting your eyes.
"As a charity we are known for our guide dogs but we are also one of the biggest funders of research into the causes and prevention of blindness.
"It is important that everyone takes care of their eyes and wearing good sunglasses could help prevent conditions such as cataracts in later life."
As it turned out, the shades were slightly superfluous - the fundraising day coincided with the school sports day and, predictably, the weather was not at its best.
