Bedale High School hosted a cerebral palsy morning and were glad to welcome Sydney Paralympic gold medallist Hazel Robson.
Sunderland athlete, Hazel, is the world 200m record holder and won her gold medal in the 100m.
The Years seven, eight and nine groups were fascinated by an inspirational presentation, a video of her success and the chance to hold her gold medal.
Head of PE Mr Martyn Coombs said: "I was apprehensive about how the students would react today, but once the spontaneous round of applause happened after watching Hazel's Olympic final on the video I was so proud of their attitude.
"They seemed genuinely interested in the cerebral palsy condition and the opportunities it has created for Hazel. So many people wanted to see her medal and they asked many searching and interesting questions. "Everyone is now more familiar with cerebral palsy sports and will be shouting for Hazel in the World, European and Olympics."
For the last three years Hazel, 21, has been principally funded by the National Lottery and also in part by TSF (UK) plc who are an e-commerce company with an office in Sunderland.
The company recently donated over 60 computers to the school.
Hazel is currently in preparation for the World Championships in Nottingham next month, training six days a week, often three times a day and is a shining ambassador for cerebral palsy sports.
After the presentation all of the schools' students went on to the running track to see who could get close to Hazel's World record of 32.86 seconds in the 200m and 15.4secs in the 100m.
