A COUPLE who netted more than £5,000 in a betting scam at a small bookmaker's office were both jailed yesterday.
Once greyhound and horse races were well under way, punter Paul Milburn wrote out bets which partner Sheila Davison, a part-time cashier, paid out on at Stanley Racing's South Moor premises, in Stanley, County Durham.
The couple, from Moor Street, South Moor, Stanley, denied conspiring to defraud Stanley Racing between March and June 1999, but they were found guilty by a unanimous jury verdict following a 12-day trial at the court last month.
Yesterday, Judge Maurice Carr jailed Milburn, 33, an insurance company financial advisor, for four months and Davison, 30, for two months.
