COUNCILLORS are being urged to award a £10,000 grant towards a project to repair an historic bridge.
Hambleton District Council has received a request to aid the £362,000 scheme to save Myton-on-Swale bridge, near Helperby.
Councillor Peter Sowray contacted the authority on behalf of the Friends of Myton Bridge to say that the majority of funds had been secured, but a £24,500 shortfall remained.
His request for the council to make a contribution is expected to be supported to the tune of £10,000 at a cabinet meeting on Thursday.
The bridge is a link to Boroughbridge and has historical significance
