STAFF at the world-renowned Bettys tearooms were put to the test when they swapped their tasting spoons and pastry forks for paintbrushes.

Tea blenders, coffee roasters and bakers from across the company, based in Harrogate, joined forces to create a mural reflecting its 80-year history of craft baking.

A gallery of images stretching more than 30ft was produced at the old bakery on Prospect Road, which has stood empty since last year when the firm moved to new premises.

Bakery manager Caroline Grant said: "It's wonderful to see so many different interpretations, not just of the bakery itself, but the products and the people who worked there too."
