PUPILS at Burnopfield Primary School have proved themselves to be at the head of the pack when it comes to sporting activities.
Their end-of-term sports day was all the more significant for the school, which this year has been awarded a coveted Activemark for sport from the Sports Council.
Headteacher John Rymaszewski said: "The award has given the school the impetus to try and involve more children in sporting activities.
"The aim is to get them involved in a fun way, while at the same time showing that competition can lead to greater things.
"We have developed sport within the school through curricular and extra-curricular activities.
"Our philosophy is to try and involve as many children as possible at an early stage in any form of sport."
The school has a gym and netball clubs, and many pupils go on to join local clubs
