artists are being offered the chance to capture some of the spectacular scenes from a popular beauty spot, on canvas, through a workshop.
Hamsterley Forest, near Bishop Auckland, is the venue for a one-off watercolour and sketching workshop led by North-East artist Marney Swan, on Sunday.
The workshop is being offered by the Forestry Commission, which approached Ms Swan whose work has been exhibited in London and at Richmond's Georgian Theatre. Hamsterley Forest has been a constant source of inspiration to her.
Forest ranger Simon Blenkinsop said: "Marney's work is extremely popular, especially her views of the forest through the seasons. She'll be offering plenty of advice and encouragement and helping people brush up on their painting and sketching skills."
The workshop starts at 1pm. Places cost £8 for adults and £5 concessions and must be reserved by calling (01388) 488312.
