A £3.5m pub and restaurant opened at the weekend.
Cathedrals is housed in Durham City's former police station, and brings together six food and drink concepts under one roof.
The restaurant, bistro and bar opened on Saturday and the coffee shop, pantry and micro-brewery are due to open in a few weeks' time, because of a delay in the building programme.
The complex is the brainchild of businessman Richard Lazenby, the former chairman and founder of Mr Lazenby's sausage manufacturer, in Thornaby, Teesside.
He said: "The opening of Cathedrals signals the end of nearly two years' planning, but the beginning of our work in terms of providing a unique food and drink experience for our customers."
Cathedrals is expected to prove popular with both locals and tourists
