MP Vera Baird has opened new offices for a company providing free business advice to people in the town.

DHP Enterprise has moved from offices above Kwiksave, in Alma Parade, to a unit at the Redcar Station Business Centre.

The organisation has a six-strong team, with three dedicated business advisors, offering free advice and assistance to anyone who is exploring the possibility of setting up their own business.

Enterprise manager Ann Featherstone said: "Over the past five years, we have assisted in the creation of almost 1,200 new businesses and established ourselves as a market leader.

"We believe in offering clients a totally flexible service, catering for individual needs."

DHP Enterprise delivers Business Links' Start Right In Business Programme, which is one of Europe's top services for helping people into self-employment.

It also offers young people, aged over 16, the Youth In Business Programme, giving them the opportunity to gain a nationally-recognised NVQ qualification, together with practical experience through sister company City Centre Training.

The services are provided on behalf of Business Link Tees Valley, whose chief executive, Malcolm Taylor, said: "The Start Right in Business Programme is one of the key components of our business support strategy, and this expansion can only help DHP improve further on the already outstanding service they provide."
