A WOMAN was injured when she fell to the ground after a struggle with two youths who ran off with her bag.

The attack happened as the woman, in her 50s, was walking through South Park, in Darlington, on Saturday morning.

She had been shopping in the town and was walking into the park at the Grange Road end. She was approached by one of the attackers as she neared the bridge.

Rather than let the youth steal the bag, the woman kept hold, but the second attacker joined in the assault and they won the struggle, making off over the bridge and into the park.

The woman suffered minor injuries when she fell in the attack at around 11am.

Both youths were described as a white male, of medium height and build, with dark hair. One was wearing a dark baseball cap.
