A WOMAN was left badly shaken when a teenager pointed an air rifle towards her and demanded money.
The woman, in her early twenties, was waiting for a bus near Motor World, in Front Street, Annfield Plain, County Durham, at 11.05pm on Sunday.
She initially thought the weapon was a pool cue, but said that, when it was uncovered, appeared to her to be an air rifle.
She told the youth, who was with a companion, that she had no money and he walked off.
Police investigating the attempted robbery are appealing for witnesses.
The youth was aged 16, 5ft 7in, of medium build, with fair hair and light eyes. He was wearing a light coloured Kagoul-type jacket with the hood up. The other youth was wearing a dark hooded jacket.
Anyone with information should call Stanley police on (01207) 232144.
