A KEEN cyclist is to take on a tough challenge in the autumn in the hope he can help dreams come true for children with life-threatening illnesses.
Darren Bowler, of Skeeby, plans to head for the Arizona desert in October, pedalling the 260 miles from the Grand Canyon to Phoenix.
He aims to raise £3,000 along the way for the Make a Wish Foundation.
However, first, he has to raise £2,500 to qualify for a place on the Cycle Arizona Challenge.
He is hoping others from North Yorkshire will help with sponsorship, adding to a donation already made by his employers, Weir Engineering.
Members of his family have also raised money by passing round sponsor forms to their colleagues and friends.
A disco and karaoke night is also planned at the Comrades Club, in Richmond, on Saturday. Tickets are available by calling (01748) 826860
