Police have arrested two juveniles in connection with an attack on a wheelchair-bound cerebral palsy sufferer.
Victim Alan Powell, 32, was kicked in the back by a group of youths on Sunday evening as he used his electric wheelchair to go his local shop to buy tissues.
The gang, including a girl of 11, demanded a cigarette and then money from him before chasing him up the street as they struck him four times.
The incident on Sunday evening left Mr Powell, a previously independent person who enjoyed trips to the shops, pub and bookmakers, afraid to leave his home in Hartlepool.
Two local youths were arrested yesterday and released on police bail pending further inquiries.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said today: ''The two male juveniles were arrested on charges of intention to cause harassment and disorder.''
