A DELEGATION of Government officials from China are visiting the North-East to look at establishing cultural and commercial links.
The group, from Dezhou, is visiting Gateshead ahead of a proposed high-profile visit later this year by the Chinese city's mayor, who will head a party of government officials and business representatives to examine the possibility of forging ties between the two.
Delegates have been meeting representatives of Gateshead Borough Council, One NorthEast, Tyne and Wear Chamber of Commerce, and a number of businesses.
The visit has been organised by the China Business Company, which is based at the Greenesfield Business Centre, in Gateshead.
The China Business Company was the first firm to be attracted to the Greenesfield International Business Centre, which was developed by Gateshead council in partnership with One NorthEast.
