COURSES that could lead volunteers into full-time jobs start at Bishop Auckland and Crook in the autumn.
They form a community learning project pioneered by Bishop Auckland College and backed by the European Social Fund.
They offer a chance to obtain nationally-recognised qualifications, including computing and communication skills and gain practical experience with a voluntary organisation.
Results from past courses have been good, with many students going on to full time jobs, higher education or long term voluntary work.
The course is open to anyone over the age of 18 not in paid employment. A training allowance of £75 is payable and parents with pre-school children can apply for help with childcare.
