A GROUP of young high-fliers will benefit from university tuition as part of a summer school.
From now until August 3, 31 gifted youngsters will take part in Teesside University's Flying High Summer School. With aviation and navigation as its themes, it is hoped to enthuse them in science, technology and design.
Next Tuesday, there will be a boat trip to Whitby to study satellite navigation. The children will also work with academic and technical staff from the university to make miniature robot crocodiles and learn how to make and fire mini rockets in the chemistry labs.
During a visit to Leeds-Bradford Airport, they will learn about in-flight catering. The children are aged from ten to 14 and represent all 12 secondary schools in Middlesbrough and some primary schools.
