A CANCER Relief appeal is planning a charity auction and barbecue in the North-East.
The Middlesbrough and Teesside Macmillan appeal event is taking place on Thursday, August 9, at Crathorne Hall, Yarm, at 7pm.
Stephanie Wood, appeal manager, said: "We are hoping to raise £5,000 with the auction, which will go a long way towards reaching half way in our target of £250,000, needed to fund two specialist nurses.
"Nurses Sue Willis, an information and support radiographer, and Shannon Rees, a speech and language therapist, are already employed, at South Cleveland Hospital, Middlesbrough, and The Carter Bequest Hospital, Middlesbrough.
"Once we have reached our target of £250,000, the nurses are then funded by the National Health Service Trust. The barbecue starts first, and then Lithgow and Partners will conduct the auction."
Anyone who would like to buy a ticket, or support the auction, is asked to contact the Middlesbrough and Teesside Appeal, 72-80 Corporation Road, Middlesbrough TS1 2RF, telephone (01642) 354655.
