YOUNGSTERS have won a police award for their work in the community.
The young people are part of the Blitz support group, which has come third in the Tees Valley Youth Against Crime awards.
The group was set up to help run the Blitz bus, which provides a mobile youth service around Darlington.
Members have designed leaflets to inform residents about the bus, and are also involved in running the service alongside trained youth workers.
They have been to North Tyneside, Chester-le-Street and Doncaster to talk about the service and encourage other communities to set up their own mobile service.
Spokesman Keith Dillon said: "We do a lot of work with the police and have beat officers on the bus when it goes to various estates.
"We are also sponsored by DurhamPolice."
