A NORTH-East fishing club is encouraging disabled people to get involved in angling, with an event on Saturday.
A team from South Yorkshire, representing the British Disabled Angling Association, will arrive at a County Durham pond for a match against some of the region's top disabled anglers.
Disabled people who just want to give the sport a go can also turn up at the Aycliffe Angling Club's pond, between Newton Aycliffe and School Aycliffe.
The pond is one of the few in the region to have all 40 of its pegs accessible to disabled people.
Club secretary Alan Gray said: "The day is to try to promote the sport for disabled anglers."
The match starts at 11am and runs until 4pm and is sponsored by Great Aycliffe Town Council and Newton Aycliffe firm MF Engineering.
Anybody who is interested in taking part can contact Mr Gray on (01325) 313778.
