Spraire Lads and Lasses have branched out, and they're now competing with distinction in both football and athletics.
Several members of the club represented Durham at the National Association of Clubs for Young People athletics championships - and four Spraire Lads teamed-up to break a relay record.
The team of Andrew James, Simon Williams, Tyrone Crow and Martin Sturgeon recorded 48.7 seconds in 4x100 metres relay which beat the previous time by exactly one second, each runner received a gold medal.
In the Under-11s section were Spraire's Kevin Coglan who won a bronze medal in the 4x100m relay, Stewart Leighton retuned hom with a bronze for the shot putt, Anthony Verity finished fifth in the long jump and won a silver in the 800m (2.53.2secs).
The Durham boys Under-11s team finished third overall.
Laurel Barr won silver in the shot putt and helped the Durham Lasses team to win the national England and Wales Cup.
At Under-15 Simon Williams won gold in the long jump, bronze in the 200m (25.4) and was fourth in the high jump. Tyrone Crow won gold in the 400m (53.5), Martin Sturgeon won bronze in the 100m (12.7) and Yousef Abdo won gold in the shot putt. The"Lads helped Durham finish a close second to Wales.
At Under-17 Marc Ralph was unable to compete due to a holiday and Adam Gilroy, competing one year young, finished fourth in the triple jump.
Meanwhile, The Lasses section of the club enjoyed a great season in the Tyne Tees Youth League, with the Under-15s winning the League Challenge Cup while the Under-10s won both the League's six-a-side tournament and were awarded the Fair Play Award.
