Quakers RC - Four members of the club competed in the Scarborough 10k road race and Ian Scott led the Quaker contingent home, finishing in a time of 36:41.
He was followed by Paul Younghusband in 46:27, Craig Watson running 47:25 and Mike Scott in 47:27.
The following week saw brothers Ian and Mike Scott, joined by club mate Simon Rek, complete the Beverley 10k. Ian finished 1st over 45 veteran in a time of 35:38, Simon recorded 47:32 and Mike ran 48:00.
At the Pier-to-Pier multi terrain race at Sunderland, Alasdair Tatham ran an excellent race to finish in third place with a time of 37:58. Dawn Richardson finished second lady in 47th position overall with a time of 45:17 with Julia Atkinson running 45:52 to finish second lady in 52nd place overall. Also finishing second placed, this time in the over 65 category was Bill Frankland, finishing 408th overall with a time of 65:07. Others from the club were, Jeff Thurlbeck (125th) 49:48. Sue Thurlbeck (204th) 53:34. Pat Murray (271st) 56:44. Tina Murray (440th) 68:36 and Marcia Downer (458th) 71:21.
Permanent exile from the club, Lee Coles completed is second annual Copenhagen Marathon in a time of 3:44.
This year for the first time, the junior members of the club will be competing in the North Yorkshire South Durham Track and Field League, the first meeting, which was held recently at Claireville Stadium in Middlesbrough, saw some excellent performances with several club records broken and personal best performances recorded.

The inaugural running of the Five Arch Flyer and Fun Run, organised by the club, saw Kevin White of Birtley a clear winner of the 2km fun run recording a time of 6:22. Abigail Wilson was the first girl finisher in a time of 7:17 for third place overall behind club mate Marc Smith in second place with 6:51.

In the 4km Flyer, Peter Milburn of Aycliffe AC just managed to hold off the host club's ever-improving Wayne Bramley to finish in 12:15 with Wayne in second spot with 12:18. Third was Karl Edwards of Hartlepool Burn Road with 12:22. First lady was Dawn Richardson of the Quakers finishing in fifth place overall with 13:34.

If your target is this year's Great North Run, the Darlington 10km road race or if your ambitions are even more modest, advice will be freely given by Quakers' 17-strong coaching staff with no obligation to join the club.
Group training sessions are held at Hummersknott School, Edinburgh Drive, Darlington, every Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:30pm, free of charge. Newcomers of all abilities from eight years of age and older, are welcome to attend.

The Shildon club competed at the Tyneside Track and Field League held at Monkton Stadium Jarrow on the evening of Wednesday, July 18, they had an excellent night, recording five victories and six personal bests.
