THE developer behind Darlington FC's new £20m 25,000-seater stadium is spreading news of its success throughout the UK.

County Durham group Hall Construction is circulating a glossy colour brochure to professional football and rugby clubs across the country, showcasing its latest project.

Weeks ahead of schedule, the Quakers' stadium, in Neasham Road, on the outskirts of the town, is due to see its first competitive game kick off in August next year.

The brochure features virtual reality images, photographs and text relating to the 27-acre site. It has been sent to all professional football clubs in England and Scotland, and to rugby Superleague clubs.

The firm's brochure details the features of the stadium, including its 321 hospitality seats, 44 directors' seats, 1,470 car parking spaces and 28 executive boxes.

Hall Construction, which also has offices in Leicestershire and Derbyshire, is expected to save the Third Division club, and its multi-millionaire chairman, George Reynolds, £3m.

Managing director Stephen Hall said yesterday: "We consider it an honour to have been chosen to build the new stadium, and are so proud of the results that we wanted to share them with everyone."

The firm's efforts to promote itself nationally on the back of the scheme were supported by Mr Reynolds yesterday.

He said: "They have done a wonderful job, Hall Construction. They have kept the work local. I would match them against anybody. I made the right decision in the end, I can't give them enough credit."

To put his comments into perspective, he quipped: "To get a compliment from George Reynolds is better than the Iron Cross from the Germans and the Victorian Cross from the British - because I don't give many out."

Work began on the site in February this year and already the stadium has become an impressive addition to the town's skyline.

The superstructure is expected to be completed in September, after which the internal finishing touches can be started.
