TWO cyclists were home in time for tea when they cycled from the west coast to the east.
Graham Marshall, 39, decided to cycle from Whitehaven, in Cumbria, to Sunderland in memory of his girlfriend, Jan Weighman, from Spennymoor, who died of cancer in January.
He completed the trip with friend Ian Storey, 32, in 12 hours, and they even arrived before their welcoming party of friends and family in Sunderland, who eventually caught up with them with bottles of wine.
The men, from Spennymoor, raised £800 to go to Imperial Cancer Research and Bishop Auckland General Hospital.
Ian said: "Graham's girlfriend died of cancer this year. We were going to do it anyway, and after her death we thought we would do it for a cancer cause."
