A FILIPINO dance group has added its name to the list of performers in a folklore festival.
The Karangahan Dance Company has agreed to perform at this year's Billingham International Folklore Festival, from August 11 to 18.
Festival director Joe Maloney said: "I'm really delighted this young, highly- trained and well-travelled group has agreed to come. It means that just about every type of folk style is represented this year.
"It's our 37th year and we have steadily built up our reputation around the world so that groups are knocking on our door to represent their country.
"It's a great opportunity to meet, photograph, listen to and become involved with groups from around the world, many of whom are performing here for the first time."
This year's groups are from Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Finland, Kenya, Mexico, Moldova, the Philippines, Romania and the US.
The majority of events will be hosted by the BBC Radio Cleveland presenter Stewart McFarlane, who replaces fellow presenter Keith Proud.
Tickets for formal concerts and more relaxed performances can be obtained by ringing (01642) 553220.
