INVESTIGATIONS are continuing after a man was killed on a railway line.
The accident happened at 5.30am on Saturday on the line at Relly Mill, just south of Durham City.
The man, who has not yet been named, was hit by a train travelling from Newcastle to Middlesborough. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The line was closed for several hours while officers from British Transport Police carried out investigations. A spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances.
The man is expected to be named today.
