FOOTBALL-MAD boys and girls at a Derwentside primary school have earned warm praise of their headmaster.
St Patrick's RC Primary School football team won all competitions open to Consett and district primary schools before going on to win two countywide trophies.
The school also believes that team member Natalie Phillips is the first girl holder of the Alan Grimes seven-a-side County Cup.
The small school also ran off with the Ty McGurk five-a-side County Trophy.
"It has been a phenomenal year of success," said headteacher Ted Young.
"Our PE and sport teacher, Julie-Anne Creegan, is in her first year with us and is also thrilled.
"More importantly, she is proud of the sporting attitude of the children and their excellent behaviour in representing the school."
