school leavers are taking part in a 12-day workshop at Stainton Camp, in Barnard Castle.
The camp has been organised by Shaften Youth Community Group, from Barnsley, which looks after the welfare of teenagers who have chosen not to go on to further education.
They run a series of workshops designed to teach them employable skills which they will be able to utilise in their working lives.
Yesterday, Army representatives from the Duke of Wellington Regiment and the Light Infantry ran a one-day course which included command skills, and observation tasks.
There was also the chance to discover more about 140 different trades and professions which the Army provides.
More information on job opportunities can be found by logging on to www.army.mod.uk, or calling the Darlington Army Careers Information Office on (01325) 464530.
