A SUNKEN galleon will be rising from the sands on Sunday as part of the Saltburn's Swashbuckle event.
The day of fun and frolics aims to celebrate the town's pirating past and the star attraction is likely to be a sand sculpture of a ship complete with real sails and masts.
A team of diggers and sculptors will be working under the guidance of freelance community artist Jane Cuthbert.
Ms Cuthbert said: "We're not sure of the exact dimensions until we get started, but I know it's going to involve an awful lot of sand shifting.
"We're looking forward to creating a really large sand sculpture that can be seen by everyone as they come down Saltburn Bank.
"I'm sure we'll also attract some spectators, too, and if they feel like joining in, we can add a small flotilla of other craft"
