YOUNG people in South Tyneside will benefit from a £66,000 Government grant to fund extra summer activities.
The money will be used to provide constructive activities, such as supervised sport and awaydays for young people aged 12 and upwards.
Local voluntary groups will be able to ask for funding to benefit young people in their area. The money has to be used in the next few weeks of the summer holiday period.
South Tyneside Youth Inclusion programme manager Pam Vedhara said it would allow schemes to be set up covering the whole borough and add to schemes set up for specific areas such as Biddick Hall and Whiteleas.
