YOUNGSTERS are being urged to beat the queues and pick up their bus pass before the new school year starts in September.
For the first time all children under 16 years old in the North-East will be required to carry an under-11 or under-16 pass, which offers free or reduced priced travel on buses and Metros.
Nexus say an estimated 55,000 young people will be clamouring for tickets before next term.
From Monday, the ID cards will be available from Metro stations, Jarrow Community Centre, and the Redby Travel shop in Sunderland.
