RESIDENTS, opposing a housing development they believe is out of character, say they are still not happy with revised designs.
Proposals for 31 new houses and flats in the Westfields area of Kirkbymoorside, near Pickering, North Yorkshire, have been submitted to Ryedale District Council.
Residents say the plans would not be in keeping with the existing housing in the market town and have singled out a block of nine flats at the junction of West Lund and Westfields for criticism.
Resident Don Smith said: "This will be an intrusive feature in the street. We welcome the reduction in the number of dwellings from 33 to 31, but the objection on grounds of over-development remains."
Tay Homes' director Simon Chadwick said the scheme would not be scaled down further. He said: "While we have considered the possibility of reducing the scale of development, we consider this is neither necessary nor appropriate as the scheme complies with planning aims and objectives."
