Kris Martin achieved a tremendous feat when competing for Great Britain in the World Taekwondo Festival in South Korea.
The 15-year-old from Darlington defended the international title he won at the same competition last year.
Martin took gold in the Patterns category while he also won bronze in the Sport Competition.
His dispay impressed chief instructor of Kim Chung Do Kwan Ron Brennan. He said: "The standard in Korea was really high and with over 700 competitors, Kris did extremely well to even get a medal, never mind gold.
"It's an excellent achievement for someone so young, and it is also good for Darlington Kim Chung Do Kwan to produce such high standards."
