PREPARATIONS are under way for a fundraising golf tournament.
This year's Charity Pro Am Tournament will be held at Wynard Golf Club, Middlesbrough, on Wednesday, August 29.
It will involve more than 150 players, who will tee off to raise money for the Friends of Gleneagles (Frogs), a Middlesbrough charity providing respite care for children with disabilities.
Organisers have set a target of £10,000, which will be used to create a sensory garden for the children, buy equipment for an outdoor play area, and help offset the cost of outings.
Detective Superintendent Mark Braithwaite, who chairs the organising committee, said that last year's event raised £8,000 for the special care baby unit at the James Cook University Hospital, and was a great day for all those who took part.
"We have raised our sights to try and raise even more this year for Frogs," he said.
The event is supported by more than 40 local companies, who have entered teams or sponsored it.
Afterwards, there will be an auction, with the chance to buy a backstage pass to see Status Quo, a cricket bat signed by England and Australian players, and tickets for top football matches.
Anyone wishing to enter a team or support the event should call Det Supt Braithwaite on (01642) 301372.
