PARISH councils and builders are to be asked for their views on a local authority's plans to control housing developments.
Harrogate Borough Council has produced a draft policy aiming to control the rate of building on greenfield and previously developed sites.
The policy was drawn up in response to the latest statistics, which show there could be over-provision of houses by 2006 unless urgent action is taken.
The council is asking for the views of parish councils, amenity societies and builders, with a deadline for comments of September 7.
Council leader Geoff Webber said: "The proposed approach to controlling the rate of housing development is in accordance with recent government policy and is a necessary response to the housing situation."
