THIRTY talented young sports enthusiasts have spent a fortnight taking part in a summer school.
The year six, seven and eight pupils, from Haughton Community School, in Darlington, and other surrounding primary and secondary schools, were selected for a sports summer school for the gifted and talented.
During the fortnight, they did fitness testing, visited Middlesbrough Football Club, trained with Newcastle Falcons rugby team and went kayaking at the Tees Barrage.
They were also coached in table tennis, cricket, and volleyball.
The group produced a training programme for primary school table tennis during the course, which was run by PE teacher at Haughton Jonathan Cooke and English teacher Melissa Clarkson.
