A BOWLING Club is looking forward to the official opening of its £22,000 pavilion this weekend.
The pavilion at Sherburn Village Bowling Club's green ,has been built with a £19,878 grant from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.
The club also raised £2,500 itself and was given £600 by the North-Eastern Co-op, for shutters.
It will be officially opened on Sunday afternoon by Denise Tate, a trustee of the trust. A buffet will be laid on and the club will play an invitation match against Cockton Hill to celebrate the occasion.
Club chairman Wilfred Kent said: "We didn't have a pavilion as such. There was an old building that used to be a cricket pavilion outside the bowling green.
"It had one toilet that was so small it couldn't be used by anyone who was disabled.
"This pavilion is a marked improvement.
"It has a kitchen where we can make tea and provide food."
