A FLYAWAY parrot is on the loose in a rural village after escaping from a sanctuary.
Murdoch is living off summer fruit after escaping from Pampered Parrots in Slingsby, near Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire.
Despite the best efforts of manager Julie Piercy, the Amazon Green parrot is evading capture.
"He keeps squawking so he's easy to trace - I just can't get him to come down," she said. "I've tried putting out his favourite treats and I've even tried using his companion Buddy, a grey parrot, to encourage him to come home. Murdoch is ignoring him."
Murdoch broke out as Julie was cleaning cages and she is worried he could start ruffling a few feathers.
"I'm getting worried he might start disturbing some of the local residents," she said.
