MEMORIES of Hartlepool in bygone days are being rekindled by a touring exhibition.
Altered Images features maps of the town dating back more than 80 years, along with various aerial photographs, paintings and prints.
The exhibition has been based in Hartlepool's Central Library in York Road, but has been split in two to tour branch libraries in the north and south of the town.
For the rest of this month, the exhibition will be at Seaton Carew Library and the Headland before moving on to Foggy Furze and West View, in September, and Owton Manor and Throston, in October.
Liz Law, collections manager for Hartlepool Borough Council, said: "We have a 1923 map of West Hartlepool and Seaton Carew that is forming the centrepiece of the displays staged at libraries in the south of the town.
"A 1919 map of the Headland, that actually shows individual buildings, is the basis of the displays in northern libraries.
"Both have received special conservation treatment because they are quite old and have suffered a fair bit of wear and tear."
